Yesterday Jamie and I went to go an find our location for our music video. We went to this old abandoned warehouse and we got some really good ideas, and other things we could use within the task.

We might use this location however we shall look at more so we can compare this one to others.

Who’s with Who?

This year I have decided to pair up with someone different from last year. this year I am pairing up with the great Jamie Alexander. we both have the same music interests and we both think that choosing a song will be much easier if we have similar music interests than being with someone who has completely different tastes of music to you.

I think as far as I know that we will be doing a Bring Me The Horizon Song, as it is not just a band we both love, but we also find it a challenge that we are willing to overcome. I look forward to working with Jamie as I think that we can work well together as partners.

I will add that the same group as last year was a possibility however I think that this would benefit me a lot more by making this choice. I will wish last years group the best of luck with there pieces as they are possibly the best people to work with.

I wish all the groups this year good luck.

Thank you.

Changing Songs Already

our job was originally to produce a song, using lip-sinking. this means taking a already produced song and making a video with the music itself.

we first had the song Minging by Astroid boys, however due to being a little bit complex for our group we decided to chose another.

5 Colours In Her Hair by Mcfly was a choice that was made pretty much as a group decision as we all found the song really catchy and we found easier to achieve higher standards out of.

the work is in for last two lessons today and we are hoping for a good start in A2 Media, and to try and improve in any areas that we can from this piece of work.

Lip Syncing task

Our task was to split up in small groups or in pairs and lip sink either a whole song or just part of one in the hope of perfecting lip sinking for our final pieces.

I partnered up with Chris and decided to lip sink the song Minging by Astroid Boys.

what is a music video?

a good music video is a clip that responds to the pleasures of music, and in which that music is made visible, either in new ways or in ways that accentuate existing visual associations. – Andrew Goodwin.

in other words style is more important than substance.- John Fiske.

a music video is a way of performance within music, there are a few types of music video such as performance, narrative and also concept. the purpose of a music video is for the song to be much more recognisable and hope that by having a video that people who like the song will watch the video and see what it has to offer.- My opinion.

Lets Begin

a new year in media, a new blog must begin. This year, our task is to eventually make our own music video whether it be from and song we have made ourselves or one that already exists. however due to copyright reasons we will be writing into to record labels in the hope to have permission to make music videos for other bands/groups/solo artists tracks.

my first aim is to practice different genres of music in the hope to find one that would best suit either me or my groups work. I think this is very important as we need to enjoy the song we are working with otherwise it wont seem as important to complete the tasks by deadlines.

I will keep posting all work related items in the hope of keeping a good structure to my blog.
